Privacy Policy

When you create an account, we collect your email address and the username you choose. We store the content you submit to the Platform, including deal posts, comments, votes, and deals you save.

We also collect usage data — such as pages visited, deals viewed, and interactions with the Platform — to help us understand how Savings Spy is being used and to improve the experience for all Agents.

Your information is used to operate the Platform: to display your posts, track your rank and badges, and enable community features such as voting and commenting.

If you have opted in to notifications, we may use your email address to send you deal alerts and platform updates. You can manage notification preferences from your account settings at any time.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Savings Spy uses Supabase as its database and authentication provider. Supabase infrastructure may store your data on servers located outside New Zealand, including in the United States or other jurisdictions. By using the Platform, you acknowledge and consent to this international data transfer.

We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is protected in transit and at rest, including encrypted connections and access controls.

The Platform uses session cookies provided by Supabase to keep you logged in. These are essential to Platform operation and cannot be disabled while using an account.

We plan to add Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns. Google Analytics is not currently active. When it is enabled, this policy will be updated and you will have the option to opt out via standard browser tools or the Google Analytics opt-out extension.

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to request corrections if it is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to delete your personal information, subject to any legal obligations we may have to retain it.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@savingsspy.co.nz. We will respond to requests within 20 working days as required by the Act.

Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your identity is removed from the Platform. Deal posts and comments are retained but attributed to "Anonymous Agent" to preserve community context.
